Wherever You Are on Your Journey, You Are Welcome at Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church!

We are a community of believers committed to showing Christ's love in everything we do. As the oldest African American church in Troy, New York, with 197 years of history, we are proud to continue serving our community with faith and love. At Fifth Avenue, we embrace all with open hearts and a deep desire to empower and equip individuals to embody God’s love in action. We are excited to meet you and look forward to seeing you soon!

What Can I Expect When I Visit?

Our Sunday worship services occur in our historic sanctuary, where we gather to sing songs of praise, pray together, greet one another, and receive the life-changing Word of God from the Holy Scriptures.

If you join us on the first Sunday of the month, you can participate in Holy Communion. All who love the Lord and are in fellowship with their neighbor are invited to share in this sacred sacrament.

If I Need Prayer, Will Fifth Avenue Pray for Me?

Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church is a praying church. If you need prayer, we invite you to come forward during the invitation or after the service. We would be honored to pray with you and lift your concerns before the Lord. First-time visitors will receive a visitor card to complete, and on the back of the card, they can share their prayer concerns with us. Additionally, you can submit your prayer requests through the prayer section on our church website. We are here to pray with and for you.

How Do I Join the Church?

At the end of the sermon, we will extend an invitation to those who feel called to join our church family. You are welcome to come down to the front during the invitation, come to the altar afterward, or speak privately with a member of our Welcome Team. If you prefer, you can complete the New Member Form on our website, and someone from our team will follow up with you promptly.

Will I Have a Chance to Meet the Pastor?

Reverend Victor R. Patterson is eager to meet visitors after each service. He will be at the back of the sanctuary to greet members and visitors as they leave, answer any questions, and share more about the ministry of Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
